Multinational Forces on Exercise Allied Spirit X

Multinational units conduct convoy operations during exercise Allied Spirit X in Hohenfels, Germany, April 6, 2019. Exercise Allied Spirit X includes approximately 5,600 participants from 15 nations, March 30-April 17, 2019, at the 7th Army Training Command’s Hohenfels Training Area in Southeastern Germany. Allied Spirit is a U.S. Army Europe- directed, 7th Army Training Command- conducted multinational exercise series designed to develop and enhance NATO and key partner interoperability and readiness across specified warfighting functions.

Exercise Allied Spirit

Approximately 5,630 participants from 15 nations will take part in exercise Allied Spirit X at the 7th Army Training Command’s Hohenfels Training Area in southeastern Germany, Mar. 30–Apr. 17, 2019.

Nearly 1,265 participants will come from the United States, and approximately 4,365 participants are scheduled to participate from allied and partner nations of Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

Germany’s 21st Armored Brigade will command the multinational brigade headquarters. The Allied Spirit series rotates countries as the brigade headquarters leading the exercise, so all participating nations gain experience of working together in and for a multinational effort.

Allied Spirit X is unique in its ability to provide hands-on experience and testing of secure communications between NATO allies and partners.

Military Units Featured

7th Army Training Command

The 7th Army Training Command (7th ATC), headquartered at Tower Barracks in Grafenwöhr, Germany, exercises Training and Readiness Authority (TRA) over four active brigades.  The brigades are: 173rd Airborne Brigade; 2nd Cavalry Regiment; 41st Field Artillery Brigade; and the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade. The 7th ATC also resources the training readiness for all of USAREUR’s assigned and allocated forces throughout the EUCOM area of operations with the following organizations: Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC); Joint Multinational Simulation Center (JMSC); 7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy (NCOA); Training Support Activity Europe (TSAE); Combined Arms Training Center (CATC).

Viper Combat Camera Team

Viper Combat Camera Team is a media operations unit assigned to US Army Europe. They are based in Hohenfels, Germany and headquartered at the 7th Army Training Command’s Joint Multinational Readiness Center, (JMRC) . Comprised of a multifaceted group of Photographers, Videographers, and Graphics personnel, the Soldiers of VIPER COMCAM strive to provide high quality, relevant, and timely Visual Information products of simulated combat exercises and other events occurring at JMRC. VIPERS represent the largest deployable Combat Camera unit in Europe most recently supporting JMRC’s elite 1-4 Infantry Battalion as it deployed to Afghanistan as a part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) contingent of Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition, VIPERS consistently deploy VI COMCAM assets throughout Europe to include Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Italy, Poland, and wherever the JMRC footprint takes shape.
